Departments of Journalism
The Department of Journalism was established in 1989 in the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce. It is a pioneer department in the University of Delhi.
Ranked 8th among the top ten institutions/colleges for mass communication and journalism in the year 2014-15 in a survey conducted by India Today in partnership
with The Nielson Company, today it stands for excellence in journalism and media education. The Department takes pride in having highly qualified and professional
faculty from the field of media studies, research, and print, television and new media industry.
The Department of Journalism offers the undergraduate course, BA (Hons.) Journalism in Semester mode. The syllabus is a focused blend of inputs on all forms of mass
communication including advertising, public relations, documentary filmmaking, print journalism and television production. Along with this the students are also trained
in communication research, producing a rigorous dissertation in their final year. It is committed to provide contemporary and industry-relevant media education.
It has strived to realize the premier goals of excellence and knowledge by providing our students with the interface between the media industry and academics by
inputs from eminent media personalities and renowned journalists.
The academic results of the Department have been exceptional. Our students have raised the bar for the University. We set new benchmark for brilliance, hard work and
dedication with our students topping the university consecutively.
The students produce a number of tabloids throughout the year. The DCAC Herald, DCAC Express and the DCAC Times are received well by the college community and the
colleges across the university. The Critique, another initiative of the department touches new horizons every academic year where the students dwell upon issues of
contemporary relevance. In tune with the current trends in the news industry, the Department has digitalized its annual publication, The Critique. The online edition

Our students are associated with some of the most highly-ranked establishments and institutions for their higher education such as TISS, ACJ, IIMC and JMI.
The Department’s alumni are well-placed in media organizations like NDTV, CNN IBN, India Today, Headlines Today, The Hindu and The Times of India.
